We travled 262 miles today:
We left our hotel in Jackman, Maine at 8:00AM. There was wi fi at the hotel but we stayed in one of there suites that was down the road with no wi fi. That was the only room left so we didn't have a choice.
8:50 AM We stopped in Rockwood, Maine to take some pictures and go to the post office, but the post office was closed. We wanted to send some things home to lighten the load.
11:00 AM We stopped at a rest station in Kingsberry, Maine. I think everyone is hurting in some way. This trip does take a physical toll on your body and psyche. You must always be alert (not as easy as one might think-your back and legs hurt from sitting on the motorcycle everyday). The group spirits are still very high.
12:00 Noon We stopped at a Radio Shack in Showegan, Maine to get a connector for someones nav. device.
4:00 PM We are now in New Hampshire. We stopped a the info. center in Shelburne, New Hampshire to get some advice about this state and directions. The lady there was very knowledgeable.
4:30 PM We are on the Auto Road going to the top of Mt. Washington. The highest mountain in the eastern USA, great sights see the pictures.
Next stop the Town and Country hotel in Gorham New Hampshire. This is where we will stay for the night.
I want to tell you my observation about the guys on this trip:
1.John, he has a special way about himself. He appears to be very confident. He is a fair decision maker. He worries about everyone having a good time. He sizes up the situation and only speaks his piece if needed. He is always looking for a good time. He chooses his friends wisely, and will cut you off if you are not a good person. No messing around. I am proud to be John's friend.
2.Bill, my roommate: He makes me laugh all the time. He is kind, considerate and funny. I lost one of my bungies. He was kind enough to loan me one of his with a $500.00 deposit (non refundable) and $10.00 a day if the bungie is returned to him without any damage. If, however, it is lost or damaged he will charge me only and an additional $3,000.00. This sounded fair to me so we made the deal. Bill has improved the quality of this adventure for me and I believe everyone else.
3.Lane: He is a politician. He wheels and deals all our hotel rooms ( very successfully I might add-He has saved each one of us hundreds of dollars-Thank you, Lane). He is concerned about everyone all the time, even at his own expense. I call him "Moondogie" because he is definately the leader of the pack. He is always trying to keep it fun and happy. He is a very good guy.
4.Jack: He is the best motorcycle rider. I watch him and try to incorporate his skills into mine. He is quiet but lots of fun. When he speaks people listen. He is funny and is always eager to pop his 2 cents in (usually very funny). I like Jack very much.
5.Bob: He has taught me the most about motorcycle riding. He has taken the time to make sure that I am safe. He has loaned me things so that I would be able to pack. He has removed things off of one of his motorcycles and has installed them onto mine, how generous can one be. We have had our share of differences but I feel that we have overcome them. Bob thank you for all your help. You are a great guy. Bob also did most of the planning for this trip. Thank you again, Bob.
